HALTER MOMENTUM GROWS:
NEW POLL HAS RACE IN SINGLE DIGITS

North Little Rock – Bill Halter's momentum continues to grow and he is the strongest Democratic candidate to win against the Republicans in November according to a new poll out today. The poll from Research 2000 / DailyKos released this morning in Arkansas shows Bill Halter within single digits of two-term incumbent Sen. Blanche Lincoln.

Here are some highlights: Lincoln 43%-Halter 35%, with 15% undecided. Sen. Lincoln remains stuck at just over 40%, a shockingly low number for a two-term incumbent Senator. Bill Halter's favorability with Democrats stands at 66%-14%, and Lincoln is viewed unfavorably by 33% of Democratic primary voters. Halter does better against the Republican field and has gained ground among African-American voters.

"Washington is broken and we need to change the way business is done in DC," said Halter. "Arkansans know I will always stand by them, not turn my back on them. I have heard from people in Batesville and Helena and Conway and folks all over Arkansas that we need to change the way Washington does business and listen to the people of Arkansas. That’s why we are continuing to gain momentum."

"Despite the attacks and the mudslinging by our opponent and her corporate backers, Bill Halter is catching fire with Arkansans," said Halter campaign manager Carol Butler. "Her negative smears and unwillingness to debate the issues openly and honestly with Arkansans are costing her votes, and the polls reflect that."

According to a Washington Post poll released yesterday, "Members of Congress face the most anti-incumbent electorate since 1994, with less than a third of all voters saying they are inclined to support their representatives in November."
