Re: New Daily Kos/Research 2000 Poll Shows Halter Has the Momentum
NOTES ON RESEARCH 2000 POLL
* WE’RE WINNING, 47%-44%: This is the second public poll since the May 18 primary showing Lt. Gov. Bill Halter with a lead over two-term incumbent Sen. Blanche Lincoln.
* WE’RE WINNING WOMEN: Halter leads Lincoln among female Democratic Primary voters, 51%-39%.
* LINCOLN HAS HIGH UNFAVORABLES: Sen. Lincoln has become unelectable in November in Arkansas, where she is viewed as unfavorable by 58% of the electorate.
* BOOZMAN EASILY BEATS LINCOLN: She is losing to Rep. John Boozman by 20 points, 58%-38%. Her home base, East Arkansas, is going for Boozman, 57%-40%, as are independent voters, 65%-29%. Boozman would even get 25% of Democratic voters against Sen. Lincoln in a general election matchup.
* HALTER RUNS STRONGER AGAINST BOOZMAN: If Lt. Gov. Halter were to matchup against Boozman, however, Democrats would have a real chance. Halter does almost twice as well as Lincoln against Boozman, behind 53%-42%, and leads among women, 48%-47%. Halter beats Boozman in the Little Rock area, 50%-46%, as well as in Southern Arkansas, 49%-48%.
